Québec - 15 August 2025
This week, Le Devoir newspaper published a thoughtful and well researched article on the revival of Quebec’s wool industry; a piece I’m proud to be featured in alongside Serge Lemieux, President of Filature Lemieux, Dany Charest, Executive Director of TechniTextile Québec, and Jimmy Lapointe, President of Les Éleveurs Ovins du Québec.
The article, researched and written by Éric Desrosiers, explores the renewed energy around local fibre production, the challenges of scaling, and the quiet determination of those working to reclaim knowledge and infrastructure that was nearly lost. It’s a story of resilience, collaboration, and a deep respect for the land and animals that sustain our work.
For me, being included in this conversation is both an honour and a signal that the work I’ve been doing – whether through product manufacturing, feasibility studies, on farm wool testing, or strategic planning – is resonating. It’s also a reminder that wool is not just a material; it’s a cultural and economic engine that connects farmers, processors, designers, and consumers.
What makes me even prouder is simply being able to do business in French, in Quebec. I love this province. I love our language and our culture. I love the way we change, grow, and embrace adversity. We start from a place of “Let’s try something! Let’s see what we can do!” That’s the foundation of my work. Québec has taught me to think way bigger that box I start from.
If you’re curious about the state of wool in Quebec, or interested in how our regional fibre systems are being reimagined, I highly recommend giving the article a read. It’s a great snapshot of where we are – and where we might be headed.
